Online Banking Security Enhancement

Beginning on February 26th, 2008 all Online Banking members will be asked to choose 3 security questions when they log into Bethpage Online Banking. These questions will be used periodically to verify your identity when using the online banking function.
The security of our On-Line Banking members has always been a priority for Bethpage Federal Credit Union. Because of this, we have just completed this final phase of our security feature enhancements.

Why are you enhancing the security of online banking?
Bethpage has an outstanding track record for maintaining the highest levels of security for members who conduct their banking online. However, regulatory agencies are recommending that all financial institutions enhance the security for their online banking systems.

What are the new security features?

We are implementing an exciting new technology called multifactor authentication.
It is a biometric technology that monitors the way the user ID and password are typed. It uses each member's unique typing rhythms as an additional method of verification.[Download Flash]

How will this new feature change the login process?
There are a few things users may notice:
  • User ID and password will be entered on the same page
  • Pressing Backspace clears the entire user ID or password field
  • A current version of Flash is required. Users who do not have Flash installed on their PC will be prompted to download a current version.[Download Flash]
What if I cannot upgrade Flash or cannot use the new login page?
Users who do not have Flash will see a message that offers an alternate page to use to login.

What happens if I continue to use the alternate login page?
Users who cannot upgrade the Flash player software may be asked additional questions to verify their identity during their online banking session.

Why does the ability to paste the user ID and password into these fields no longer work?
The new security feature requires the user ID and password be typed by the user. Users of password management programs that paste information into these fields should be aware of this change.

Why do the user ID or password fields not display?
We have discovered an issue using an ad blocker plugin like the one provided by the FireFox browser. We are researching a solution; however, in the meantime you may use our alternate login page.

I have tried to download Flash but still receive the message that indicates I need Flash. What do I do?
If you're using Internet Explorer, you will also need to enable the ActiveX component. When you download Flash you may be prompted to install ActiveX. After installing Flash and ActiveX, make sure ActiveX is enabled by following these steps:
  • From your browser menu go to Tools > Internet Options
  • Click on the Security Tab
  • Click on Custom settings
  • From the checklist find "Run ActiveX Controls and Plugins"
  • Make sure that "enabled" is checked
  • Find Scripting section and enable Active Scripting
  • Save your changes then close and re-open your browser
What browsers are supported with the new security feature?
Click here for a list of supported browsers.

Why does online banking history not display an ATM or POS transaction that I just performed?
While credited immediately, ATM and POS transactions processed after 10am ET receive a posting date of the following business day. To view these transactions online immediately, adjust the date range of your online banking history to include the next business day.

I forgot my online banking user ID. What should I do?
Please contact the Telephone Service Center during normal business hours for assistance.

I am unable to log in to the new system. What should I do?
If you experience problems accessing or using the new system, please contact our Telephone Service Center at 1-800-628-7070 for assistance.

Why does one of my accounts say CLOSED after the account name?
Accounts that were closed within the last 90 days will be indicated with this notation. To improve presentation of account data, accounts closed more than 90 days ago will no longer be displayed within online banking.
